There was a near miss between two Hollywood superstars who have also been high profile love rivals in the past, with the pair on the verge of bumping into one another at one of the UK’s major airports last week. The two stars, Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston, were locked in a love rivalry story with Jolie’s partner and Jen’s ex, Brad Pitt.

According to reports Jolie took off from LAX airport last week with her two children, heading for the UK. Jennifer was already in the UK, where she had traveled with her beau Justin Theroux to promote her new movie Horrible Bosses. The two Hollywood superstars are rarely to be found in the same place at the same time, which is just as well as the atmosphere would most likely be extremely frosty!

It is claimed that Angelina’s flight from LAX arrived at Heathrow Airport around the same time that Jennifer’s flight from Heathrow back to the USA was taking off. A half hour difference in departure or arrival times could have resulted in a very uncomfortable moment – and the perfect photo opportunity for paparazzi – as the two love rivals may have literally bumped into one another at Heathrow.

As millions of his adoring fans will know, Johnny Depp recently jetted to Japan to promote his new animated comedy flick Rango. The Hollywood icon recently attended a press conference in Tokyo, and spent a large chunk of his time bigging up his co-star in the recent movie The Tourist, Angelina Jolie.

Whilst there was some controversy and split opinions over the chemistry between Jolie and Johnny on the set of the movie, Depp had nothing but good things to say about his co-star, who is the partner of another Hollywood legend Brad Pitt. At the press conference Depp is said to have been ‘gushing’ over Jolie, using many words to compliment her and describing her as a ‘shockingly good mother’.

Depp told waiting reporters: “She is such a versatile, wonderful person who can portray anything. She is a down to earth, clever, funny woman and shockingly great mother. She is very calm even if she’s surrounded by paparazzi. I don’t know what I would do [if I was in that situation]. I could’ve been in prison by now!”

He also jokingly said that he had not told his family about the love scenes that he shared with Angeline in The Tourist. He said: “I didn’t tell my family that I was shooting the film. I can’t remember, I wasn’t in it, I didn’t take the role and this film doesn’t exist. Angelina who? I can’t remember her name, so I’m clean.”

Johnny reacts graciously to criticism of The Tourist

Undoubtedly there will be many die hard Johnny Depp or Angelina Jolie fans out there that enjoyed the pair’s recent flick, The Tourist. However, the movie has received something of a bashing from critics, and whilst the majority of Depp’s movies are always greeted with delight and receive great reviews, this was not always the case with The Tourist. 

However, in typical laid back Johnny style the thrashing that the movie received has been taken graciously by the actor, who responded to questions about the bad reviews that the movie had received from critics. Depp said: “You go into a film and do the best work you can do. The second they tell you, ‘It’s a wrap,’ it’s really no longer any of your business. I always walk away, thank everyone and it’s done.”

The director of the movie was Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, and in his response to the criticism Johnny was very flattering about both the director and his co-star Angelina Jolie. He said: “Florian is a terrific filmmaker. Angie is obviously a great talent … The cinematography is great. Maybe I’m the one who messed it up but I don’t know because I haven’t seen the film.”

He also spoke about another project of his, a movie called The Rum Diary. This was shot in 2009 but there were delays with its release date. Johnny said: “We’re hoping to bring the movie out in the fall this year. It’s one of those films you want to be really right on the money, when to put it out.”
