If you’ve seen famous Matthew McConaughey running (jogging) then you know why he is in such great shape. Jogging is such a great way to stay fit. And no one knows that better than Matthew McConaughey who regularly jogs alongside his Malibu Beach front home. Matthew has been fortunate enough to leave behind shoveling chicken manure and washing dishes in Australia—a job he had in high school. When you think about it, jogging on the beach in Malibu must be like a blessing more than a workout.
For a man who is enormously famous and regularly shirtless, keeping in shape has become synonymous with his persona. Let’s face it, how many women actually come to the movie theaters just to see him act? No doubt his physical attributes are complimented by his father who was actually drafted to the Green Bay Packers in his day.
And what does Matthew do to stay in shape?
Well according to Men’s Health Magazine Matthew McConaughey made it sound simple when he said, “Where’s my rock?” According to Matthew, why use a dumbbell when there is 20lbs rock nearby. I guess he is all about improvising, and the results are apparent. It goes to show that you don’t always need a fancy gym to get in great shape, sometimes you just need some fresh air and a rock!
What does his workout entail:
“Shoulder presses, chest presses, bent-over rows, overhead triceps extensions, a couple of biceps curls,” he says, hefting his rock. “Add in hamstring, groin, and back stretches after that, and you’re good.”
When Matthew is limited on time he shadowboxes. “When it’s raining out, you can’t get out, shadowbox for 20 minutes. Go hard and I guarantee you’ll drip a sweat, man.”
His overall philosophy work hard, play hard and live your life to the fullest because in the end if all you ever did was work hard—when did you actually live? So despite all that jogging and working out Matthew still enjoys a great meal and a beer, cause without enjoyment what is all the work really for?
