Warren Buffett defines what it means to be famous. For the last six years Warren has been part of a charity auction that helps with meals, heatlh, and housing as well as family services.
The auction is for an organization called Glide located in San Francisco. It can be found online at www.glide.org. In the past Warren had brought in $650,100 namely at last year’s lunch; however this year he has brought in $2,110,100 that was purchased by an eBay member with the username greenteabug.
So username greenteabug and up to seven friends will share a meal with Warren Buffett at a steak house called Smith & Wollensky located in New York City.
Warren Buffett has also planned to give away most of his fortune over time, which consists of $49 billion to five charitable foundations. Warren has entrusted Bill Gates with the majority of this capital to distribute it through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
It’s a beautiful and sympathetic gesture for Warren Buffett the chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. to give his time and wealth to those in need. Not to mention the amount of money donated by greenteabug. Glide’s organization should benefit by the generous compensation by both of these individuals.
